New Music Video – Kelis “4th Of July”

Kelis' new music video for "4th Of July", the second single from her new dance album "Flesh Tone" premiered today! You can check it out below! It's a beautiful video full of imagery of liberation and motherhood, the lyrics are beautiful, uplifting, but also a little bit sentimental, which is why this song is just so fantastic! The video is similar in style to that of "Acapella", really loving the outfits, great video! Leave your comments below!

Potenial Single – Kelly Rowland “Rose Coloured Glasses” (D/L)

So, it seems that "Grown Ass Woman" may not be the first American single after all. Instead it seems that a song called "Rose Coloured Glasses" is being sent to radio for adds quite soon in the US. Basically, all three songs I've heard (excluding Shake Them Haters Off) have really sounded quite great, much better and more interesting than anything from her Sophmore album "Ms. Kelly", Either way, any confirmed news on this song is still quite hazy, so for now, just enjoy the song below! It's pretty nice! *EDIT* I have put in the download link below, this is confirmed on her Myspace page as being the official first US single! Enjoy!

New Single – Kelly Rowland “Grown Ass Woman”

Firstly, I would love to have a quick vent! WHY IS KELLY NOT RELEASING "COMMANDER" IN THE US??????? Ok rant over. So Kelly Rowland is now releasing a different song as her US single, I personally forgot the name of the previous contender because it was so forgettable, something about "shaking haters off". This new song "Grown Ass Woman" is great, it has some nice emotion, it's a good mid tempo which is quite similar to her hit with Nelly "Dilemma".

I really find Kelly quite endearing, she is constantly overshadowed by Beyonce, which many people believe is intentional, but that's just irrelavent. I think Kelly has a good chance of finding success in Europe and Australia with her new material, but possibly she needs to shy away from the lite RnB and focus on what she seems to excel at, DANCE! I'm not asking her to work with David Guetta again because, frankly, I'm sick of him personally, and many other people are too, despite his talent.

So check out the song, "Grown Ass Woman", on the download link below! It's a nice song that will surely make a minor impact on the charts in America, albeit not as much as "Commander" would have.

New Single – Kelis “4th Of July (Fireworks)”

So after the knockout success in the UK of her lead single "Acapella" (produced by David Guetta), Kelis is pushing along with the second single from her new album "Flesh Tone" which is in stores now. The Second single, "4th of July" is similar in terms of lyrical themes to the previous single, in that she is singing about her new baby. This is one of the main reasons I love the album so much, it's completely inspired by the birth of her baby, directly, not in some left of field way, she is genuinely a changed woman since becoming a mother.

However, as we know Kelis is quite likely to score a top ten single with "4th of July", so check out the video of her performing the song live below! The song is very much a true dance song, so if you're not a fan of dance, this may not be your cup of tea. But if you are partial, you will enjoy it!

To be honest, Kelis is one of those artists, whose vocals are not exactly "Strong" but she more than compensates with the honesty and intergrity she puts into her songwriting. Kelis is a fantastic woman who seems to do whatever she can to produce music and imagery that she truly believes in. Comment below! Let me know what you think! (Ps. if you are going to comment saying she is "Copying Lady Gaga" don't bother, Kelis has been doing the outlandish outfits/looks for over a decade.

New Single – Kelly Rowland “Commander”

It pains me so much to write a positive article about a song produced by David Guetta, but if anyone can credibly do it right now, it's definetly Kelly Rowland, after the beautiful "When Love Take's Over" the duo proved that Kelly has some stunning vocals.

Kelly Rowland has never been known for her vocal abilities, mainly because she's spent most of her career being intentionally outshined by Beyonce Knowles her former compatriot in Destiny's Child. But in "Commander" we get a slick and rich example of just how beautiful a voice Kelly has, and it goes as a given that this song will rise quite high in the charts around the world.

The song is probably more club friendly than "When Love Takes Over", which is probably due to the much thicker production and deep beats. Either way, it's a fun song, and I for one, hope that it allows Kelly to release her upcoming third solo album with full confidence in her talent and actually recieve the recognition she has deserved for so long.

New Single – Sophie Ellis Bextor “Starlight”

Sophie Ellis Bextor premiered a new song "Starlight" at the iTunes festival, it's a mixture of 80's disco and electropop. It's a very enjoyable song, especially the verses, I am eagerly awaiting a higher quality, or studio version of this song. Until then here is a video of her performing the new single live!

New Single – David Guetta Feat. Akon “Sexy Bitch”

David Guetta Feat. Akon Sexy Bitch
David Guetta Feat. Akon "Sexy Bitch"

FINALLY, Akon has stopped being an hot autotune mess and has gone back in the right direction. David Guetta is obviously the one to thank for this hot uplifting club jam. "Sexy Bitch" is like the American version of the Australian TV Rock hit "Flaunt It". David Guetta has been on fire lately with his successful colloboration with Kelly Rowland and now this new single it shows he really knows how to bring out another side to some artists.

"Sexy Bitch" is the second single from David Guetta's upcoming album "One Love" which is going to be released on August 24th. The third single from the album is titled "Gettin' Over" and will not be released until late September/October, so keep your ears open for that one.

Personally I am really enjoying the way these DJ's are no longer conforming to releasing single after single after single, and instead releasing albums! I really enjoyed Armand Van Helden's "GhettoBlaster" and there is nothing better than listening to one of these dance Cd's in you're car or on you're iPod so I highly reccomend any Dance music fans to purchase the albums of these two DJ's because you will not be dissapointed!

Much like "When Love Takes Over" David Guetta's new single "Sexy Bitch" not only has the power of a hugely popular artist behind it, but also a multitude of critical praise, so hopefully we will be extremely impressed with the upcoming album! I hope you all enjoyed the preview and purchase the album when it comes out if you have found yourself consistently enjoying David's hot music!

Chart Update – Lady Gaga + Kelly Rowland + David Guetta + More

Lily Allen "Not Fair"
Lily Allen "Not Fair"

Here is a chart update for this week, with some great news for singles that have recently been reviewed on Jaw Music Blog.

CLICK ON THE SONG TITLES TO READ THE REVIEWS

First of all Lady Gaga's Paparazzi has made a jump to the top of the Itunes Australia chart, beating the Black Eyed Peas new single "I Gotta Feeling" to the chase. Lady Gaga's previous two singles failed to chart at number one like Poker Face and Just Dance, both going gold however, "Eh Eh" and "Lovegame" both peaked at the 15th and 4th spots respectively.

Paparazzi will more than likely become lady Gaga's third number one single in Australia for her album "The Fame" which contrary to the success of it's singles has not done too well considering the magnitude of the hype surrounding it. Lily Allen's "Not Fair" has finally caught on in Australia and sits at number 3 on the Aria charts.

However over in the United Kingdom, Kelly Rowland's "When Love Take's Over" has soared to the top of the Itunes charts and will undoubtedly debut at number 1 on the UK charts, followed by The Freemasons new single with Sophie Ellis Bextor "Heartbreak" which upon its release yesterday has already reached number 15 on the charts.

New Single – “Love Takes Over” David Guetta Feat. Kelly Rowland

david-guetta-when-love-takes-overIt's great to see Kelly Rowland playing to her strengths, she can do some great music especially when she colloborates. This song is no exception, it brings together a heartfelt beat, similar to Coldplay's song "Clocks" and mashes it together with Kelly's diverse and emotive vocals. The result is a fantastic pop song with crossover appeal, from radio to the clubs.

The song has already picked up very frequent airplay in Australia and will certainly give Kelly a good oppourtunity to start releasing some new solo music, letting go of "Ms. Kelly" and trying something new. This song is well on it's way to a top ten charting position in Australia and possibly a top 20 in the United States, and in this case it would reach the top 5 of the Hot Club Dance Play charts.

Overall this song is an escapist gem, it doesn't try to be anything spectacular, but in the process it really comes through as a strong single, and the beat and tempo gets the best out of Kelly's vocals, especially in the chorus. I give the song a rating of four stars, a fantastic dance track, but it's not likely to become a chart knockout, but will certainly recieve moderate success.
