New Music Video – Kelis “4th Of July”
Kelis' new music video for "4th Of July", the second single from her new dance album "Flesh Tone" premiered today! You can check it out below! It's a beautiful video full of imagery of liberation and motherhood, the lyrics are beautiful, uplifting, but also a little bit sentimental, which is why this song is just so fantastic! The video is similar in style to that of "Acapella", really loving the outfits, great video! Leave your comments below!
New Single – Kelis “4th Of July (Fireworks)”
So after the knockout success in the UK of her lead single "Acapella" (produced by David Guetta), Kelis is pushing along with the second single from her new album "Flesh Tone" which is in stores now. The Second single, "4th of July" is similar in terms of lyrical themes to the previous single, in that she is singing about her new baby. This is one of the main reasons I love the album so much, it's completely inspired by the birth of her baby, directly, not in some left of field way, she is genuinely a changed woman since becoming a mother.
However, as we know Kelis is quite likely to score a top ten single with "4th of July", so check out the video of her performing the song live below! The song is very much a true dance song, so if you're not a fan of dance, this may not be your cup of tea. But if you are partial, you will enjoy it!
To be honest, Kelis is one of those artists, whose vocals are not exactly "Strong" but she more than compensates with the honesty and intergrity she puts into her songwriting. Kelis is a fantastic woman who seems to do whatever she can to produce music and imagery that she truly believes in. Comment below! Let me know what you think! New Single – Kelis Acapella
Kelis is back after a completely forgettable "greatest hits" era, and she's lighting up the charts in the UK with her amazing new David Guetta produced track "Acapella". This song is fantastic, not only does it have a unique and catchy beat, the vocals flow perfectly, and the lyrics are just magnificent.
The song revolves around Kelis' perception of her own life now that she is a mother. She sings that her world is now full of colour and new found light, and that her perspective on life feels a new clarity. "Acapella" has at this point in time, reached the top 5 in the UK despite a notably long absence from the music industry iin the past few years. It has graced the top 30 in Europe, and become a dance hit in the US. However it seems that only the UK has really embraced, and truly 'gotten' what Kelis is all about.
It's great to see a new mother actually coming up with a song about their experience of parenthood without trodding all over soggy, overused cliche's. Check out the music video below, leave a comment, tell us what you think of the song/video?
